HHS April 17-April 24 Letter from Administration


Dear Parent/Guardian, Student, and Highland Ram Supporter,

Recently the renovations of the track, seating around the track, and baseball field at Highland High School were announced.  A new track will be installed, seating will be added and the current seating will be renovated, and lights will be installed.  The track will serve more than Highland, it will be a district facility.  No work is planned on renovating the practice fields or the football field.  The baseball field will also receive some renovations.  We are excited with these new facilities that are planned to be available for use in September of next school year.

Junior SAT Day/Freshman and Sophomore Day of Service/Senior College and Career Preparation Day was very successful and we are grateful to the students who were involved.  We were able to help beautify the Highland Golf Course and the Portneuf Wellness Complex.  Students were also able to go and read to elementary students.  We appreciate the people who provided us with these opportunities.  We are also proud of our Juniors who worked hard on their SAT.

Also, we are proud of Mrs. Mitton and her science class who recently completed a project where they built a life size model of a blue whale.  They invited students from Green Acres Elementary to come and do some science activities with the whale model.  It was great learning experience for all of those involved!

We also wanted to take time to congratulate the students and Mr. Scherer for an amazing Spring Cabaret-"A Night On Broadway!"  They performed Tuesday-Friday of last week and did an amazing job.  Great performance!

Congratulations to Highland Senior Katie Hansen!  National Speech & Debate awarded her with the Academic All American Award. This award is only given to the top half of 1% of students involved!  We are proud of her hard work and dedication.

Reminder for graduates to get their fees paid and that cap and gown orders for graduates need to be completed by this Wednesday 4/19/17.  Wednesday is the deadline so that the orders can be here in time for graduation.  Please contact the school with questions or concerns.

Reminder that AP testing is coming up the first two weeks of May.  Check the academic calendar to see the dates each test will be given.  We do not have much time left before the year is out.  Please make sure you are checking the academic and the athletics/activity calendars for important dates coming up.  

Keep up and watch what you may have missed with all that is going on at Highland High School by watching our student driven broadcasting channel on YouTube-RAMTV.  This is ran by our amazing broadcasting students who do amazing work.  We are grateful for all they do and for their teacher Mr. Parkin who puts in countless hours to make sure RAMTV is a success.  

As always we are so proud and humbled by the amazing students and staff we have at Highland High School!
