We are so proud of the 4 Highland students that were chosen to receive the Idaho State University College of Arts and Letters Road Scholarship worth $2000 each winner! The recipients included Amia Hopster, Kate Brown, Jacob Suthers, and Kaylee Cooper. Congratulations to these students and their families and thank you ISU College of Arts and Letters for providing this opportunity to our students at Highland.
The ISU program asks high school principals, counselors and teachers to nominate two or three students interested in studying fine arts and humanities or the social and behavioral sciences at ISU. After they are nominated, each student writes an essay about their college and career goals.
Once materials are submitted, college leadership chooses a winning student who is then surprised with the scholarship during an assembly, class session or small group meeting.
This year, the college has already selected 28 students in Southeast Idaho to receive a Road Scholarship, and plans to give more. The program is also expanding to include students in other disciplines including nursing, dental hygiene, education, science and engineering and more.
“The more students that we can help in Southeast Idaho, the better,” said Holly Kartchner, Director of Outreach and Retention for the College of Arts and Letters. “Seeing more students choose ISU to continue their education is great, and we love to be a part of that” (https://www.isu.edu/headlines/stories/isu-college-of-arts-and-letters-sees-continued-success-with-road-scholarship-program.php).
Congratulations to our Cheer Team who are State Champions sweeping all categories at the state competition! We will be holding an assembly on Tuesday 3/27/18 to recognize their accomplishments and to kick off the spring athletics/activities season.

ISU’s Bengal Visit Day April 28
From
Ashley Larson-Admissions Advisor
This is a preview day event designed for juniors, where they are

We will also be having an essay contest, where the top three
submissions can win some pretty great educational awards! First place is
$1,500, second place is $1,200, and third place is $800. I have attached the
formal Bengal Visit Day Essay Contest instructions to this email, so that if
any students are interested you can give them a copy. They can also download it
