Dear Parent/Guardian, Student, and Highland Ram Supporter,
Congratulations to our cheerleaders, wrestlers, dance team, band, choir, boys and girls basketball teams, speech and debate teams. All have been competing and some finished up their seasons. Wrestling took 4th at state and brought home a trophy, boys basketball had a great season, Girls basketball went to state and also had a great season. The debate team is taking 11 students to state and 5 to nationals. We are so proud of our students and so grateful of our coaches and directors for the countless hours they put in and the lifelong lessons they are teaching our students.
We are celebrating 2 teachers that are completing their Masters Degrees in Educational Leadership: Principalship through Idaho State University and the University of Idaho this trimester. Congratulations Mr. Matt Noble and Mr. Tyler Shafer.
Also, Classy 97, KLCE is proud to honor east Idaho’s best teachers with the Classy 97 Teacher Feature Awards! Teacher Feature will highlight outstanding teachers throughout east Idaho.
Each winning teacher is honored with a plaque from Kettle Embroidery, an overnight stay from Destinations Inn or Black Swan Inn, and a gift certificate for dinner from Café Sabor.
All winners are also invited to attend an end-of-year banquet to be held in May 2017 in their honor. In addition, winning teachers will be considered for a grand prize of a cruise or trip provided by Pocatello Nissan Kia.
A panel of judges from Pocatello Nissan KIA and Riverbend Communications / KLCE judge the nominating letters.
The letters can be sent in by anyone – students, peers, former students and even relatives. If you would like to nominate a deserving teacher you can do it online at http://www.klce.com/teacher-feature/
Mr. Matt Noble recently received the Classy 97 Teacher Feature Award. Thank you Classy 97, KLCE and Mark and Liza for your support of Idaho's teachers and congratulations Mr. Noble!
We also had Highland student Hannah Willis and School Resource Officer Mark Daniels chosen as outstanding student and outstanding staff members at Highland High School by the Highland Student Council, The Voices of Change Organization, and Mountain America Credit Union. This is in recognition of the outstanding support and example they are to others and the community. They received a gift certificate and a fancy pen. We are proud of them and appreciative of their amazing examples to all of us. They live the RAM Attitudes.
We are busy setting goals for the 3rd Trimester. Our desire is to continually improve. We deeply appreciate your feedback in any form. Thank you for participating in the survey that was sent out. We are using this feedback to identify our weaknesses and guide our improvements.
We are working to put together an academic calendar for the rest of the year to help keep you informed of testing dates, academic deadlines, graduation, etc. Thank you for your support of Highland and for all you do. Go RAMS!
P.S. For your information=

- Discretionary state funding has not been fully restored and remains at the 2009 level.
- Cost increases: cover inflationary fixed costs such as power, water, services, supplies and insurance.
- Maintain existing instructional and extracurricular programs and activities.
- Recruit and retain highly qualified teachers and para-professional staff.

Highland School Song's
Highland Fight Song
It’s for Highland we are fighting,
It’s for colors black and white,
As our Ram goes out for us
We will fight with all our might.
As our team brings in the victory
On the field or in the gym,
Highland’s teams will be victorious
And the trophies will come in.
It’s for victory, honor, valor
And the prize we run the test,
As our school up on the hill will
Always be far past the rest.
And the victories we take humbly,
Losing comes without regret,And we do all these things gladlyFor our Highlands best school yet!
When you say Rams
You’ve said a lot of things
Nobody else can say
When you say Rams
You’ve said you care enough to only
Want the best (of teams)
There is no other one
There’s only something less
Because the Highland Rams
Are beating all the rest
When you say RAM POWER…
You’ve said it all!
Loyalty
Highland we’re loyal to you
Highland we’ll stand beside you
To the black and white we’re true
Highland we are true
First place a victory best place
Our Rams will show the best taste
Victory is ours forever
Ours for Highland High.
Highland up on the hill our
Highland and Rams are best still
We are the students always
Loyal and true.
(and as for)* learning and honest labor
Our Rams will stand the measure
The best in all the land
We know is Highland High!
