Dear Highland Students & Families,
We are coming hard upon the end of the trimester, the holidays, snow, family, all that
good stuff. While you’re mulling those thoughts over, here are some other items to
please keep in mind.
FAFSA Night – Mark your calendar – Wed., November 9th
Students applying for scholarship, financial aid, and some student loans will need to
complete the FAFSA (the Free Application for Federal Student Aid). We will have a
FAFSA Night at Highland on Wednesday, November 9 th , from 6 to 8 pm, in the
Library. Food will be served. There will be school staff and ISU professionals there to
help.
Bring:
Yourself and a parent or guardian (if it possible to bring a parent / guardian).
Your personal email address.
Fully charged phone for you AND your parent or guardian.
Your personal ChromeBook or personal laptop (there aren’t enough extra
computers in the library for everyone to have one).
Your Social Security number and the S.S. # of the parent / guardian with you.
Birthdates; dates of marriages / divorces.
Tax information for student and parent / guardian for 2021, including W-2s.
A list of all the colleges you applied to (or will apply to) and which you want to
receive your financial information.
Records of untaxed income (if that applies to you).
Both student and parent will establish an FSA ID that night (if they haven’t already), it
will be helpful to have an FSA ID established ahead of November 9th .

Requesting Transcripts
Students who have applied to college must also have their high school transcripts sent
to those colleges, or else your application is not complete. About transcripts, please
consider:
If you are not sure whether you have requested transcripts, just ask the CCAs in
C-36 to look at the spreadsheet and they will tell you.
Do NOT request that the same transcript be sent more than once. We are at the
height of the college application season and colleges need approximately three
weeks to process applications after they have received all application
materials. Selective schools and colleges won’t have an application decision for
you until spring.
If your GPA comes up even a fraction after this first tri, or you have recently
taken the ACTs or the SATs (again), request that new / updated transcripts be
sent to your colleges. You could be eligible for more scholarship money. Most
colleges have February 15th as a deadline to be eligible for GPA / test score-type
scholarships.
But please don’t ask for the exact same transcript to be sent to colleges more than once
because it can cause a bottleneck for college admissions offices and creates a good
deal of work for our good women in record-keeping.
To the Seniors . . .
Our best hopes for you are:
That you apply to college(s), even if you are going on a mission, by . . .
Thanksgiving.
That you request transcripts to accompany your application or applications.
That you complete and submit a FAFSA by . . . the end of the calendar year.
That starting on January 1 st , you are applying to scholarships like it’s your job –
which it is.
For Any Student Interested in the Health Professions
Idaho State is again having its hands-on Health Experience Night, a great introduction
to the health sciences; learning spaces, labs, and personnel; introduction to faculty,
staff, and current students.

OTHER
The ISU Dental Hygiene Program are looking to provide oral education and services for high school aged kids (and their younger siblings). Our clinic offers very thorough oral assessments and cleanings at a discounted rate. We also provide x-rays, sealants, whitening, and fillings. Our clinic is located on campus and my number (Sabrina-a student in the program) is (208)244-6893. Parents can call or text me and I will get their children on the schedule with either me or one of my classmates. Our clinic is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 am to 5 pm. FAMILY SPORTS PASS
Highland is now selling family passes that include all home events for the school year, even football games! (Tournaments playoffs, state, and events at the other high schools in the district not included).
Family Passes are $250 for 2 adults and 4 children(14 and under)
$125 for 1 adult and 4 children(14 and under)
Here are the individual costs of tickets for the 2022-23 school year:
Adults-$7.00
Visiting Students and Senior Citizens (60 & Older)-$5.00
Children 12 and under-$5.00
District Middle School Students w/Activity Card-$4.00
Children 5 and Under-Free
Senior Citizen Pass (60 or older)-Free
Student Activity Cards-$50 (good for entrance to all home games at all 3 high schools).
