Dear Parent/Guardian, Student, and Highland Ram Supporter,
We are ready and excited to begin another school year. Tonight, Monday 8/27/18 from 7pm until 8pm we will have Freshman Orientation in the Main Gym. Freshman will meet in the main gym for a brief introduction. Then they will be divided into groups and student leadership will take them on a tour of the school. Parents/Guardians are welcome to join them but do not need to if they do not want to. Highland spirit shirts will be available for $5 (cash or check only).
Please remember that we continue to operate above 1600 students and as a result preference changes to schedules is difficult because of increased class sizes. Also, during the school year students may not be able to make up a class they fail, summer school may be a students only option. With any questions or concerns please contact the school counselors or school administration. Thank you for your patience.
The first day of school is tomorrow, Tuesday 8/28/18. Here is the schedule=

Reminder that district wide we are moving forward with our All Day, Every Day Safe Schools program we started at the end of last school year. Here is what you can expect when visiting our school this school year, starting the first day of school, to check students out, volunteer, and/or conduct any other school business:
- All exterior doors will remain locked during school hours, including the front doors.
- A video doorbell has been installed at the main door. You will need to ring the door bell and be ready to show a photo ID to the camera each time you visit the school to gain entry. A member of the school staff, once they see your ID, will buzz you into the school.
- Please be patient while you wait. Keep in mind that our staff may be assisting others inside the school, including tending to students in need, which is our first priority.
We appreciate your patience and support as we work to make our schools as safe a learning environment as possible.

Also, a reminder that this year we will be starting a parent advisory group who will have its own purpose and set of goals. I have several Freshman parents interested and I will be contacting Sophomore, Junior, and Senior parents, unless they contact me first. The purpose of this group will be for parents, who want to participate, to meet with school administration for lunch (provided by Mr. Wallace) and share in the schools pursuit of improvement. If you are interested in being a part of this group, please email Principal Wallace at wallacbr@sd25.us. We will try and take at least 8 parents, 2 parents to represent each grade level (Freshman, Sophomore, Juniors, and Seniors). I am excited to start this group and work more closely with our Highland parents.
