- Freshman Orientation=Monday 8/27 7pm-8:30pm @ Highland's Main Gym ($5-cash or check only, Highalnd Ram T-shirts will be available).

Also, this year we will be starting a parent advisory group. The purpose of this group will be for parents, who want to participate, to meet with school administration for lunch (provided by Mr. Wallace) and share in the schools pursuit of improvement. If you are interested in being a part of this group, please email Principal Wallace at wallacbr@sd25.us. We will try and take at least 8 parents, 2 parents to represent each grade level (Freshman, Sophomore, Juniors, and Seniors). I am excited to start this group and work more closely with our Highland parents.
District wide we are moving forward with our All Day, Every Day Safe Schools program we started at the end of last school year. Here is what you can expect when visiting our school this school year, starting the first day of school, to check students out, volunteer, and/or conduct any other school business:
- All exterior doors will remain locked during school hours, including the front doors.
- A video doorbell has been installed at the main door. You will need to ring the door bell and be ready to show a photo ID to the camera each time you visit the school to gain entry. A member of the school staff, once they see your ID, will buzz you into the school.
- Please be patient while you wait. Keep in mind that our staff may be assisting others inside the school, including tending to students in need, which is our first priority.
We appreciate your patience and support as we work to make our schools as safe a learning environment as possible.
This newsletter will work to provide the latest information. We also have 2 calendars-The Highland Academic Calendar and The Highland Activities Calendar. We will use these calendars to keep you informed so you can plan ahead, or see the events of the day or week. Please check these regularly, especially when weather may be a factor with cancellations or rescheduling.

We have over 1600 students that have enrolled at Highland High School this school year. As a result, scheduling is difficult and class sizes have increased. Students may not be able to make up a class they fail during the school year and moving schedules around may not be possible. Please be patient with us as we work through some of our growing pains.
It is important to review the school supports for Academics, Attendance and Behavior at Highland High School. Please contact the school with any questions or concerns.
