We are so proud of all our winter activities and the hard work our students and coaches put in. We appreciate how they represent Highland High School. Spring activities are now underway. There is a Spring Activities Parent Meeting tonight, 2/24/20, 6pm in the Highland Main Gym. Tennis, Track & Field, Golf, Baseball, and Softball should all be there.

Congratulations to Speech and Debate Students who qualified 7 students for Nationals. This is an amazing accomplishment and we are so proud of all the hard work of all the students and Coach Christensen and the other coaches.

Congratulations to our FCCLA and BPA students who qualified for state. They did such an amazing job. In addition, we have started a Veterinary Science Team lead by Mrs. Hatch who placed in their first competition after only 2 practices. We are excited to see this team grow and the opportunity it provides to our students.

Congratulations to our wrestling team for winning the district championship. Nineteen of our wrestlers will be headed to the state tournament in Nampa, ID this weekend at the Idaho Center.

Also congratulations to our wrestlers and Coach Cordingly for being awarded as the 5A State Academic Champions. They have achieved this award 9 out of the last 10 years.

  • 2/10/20: During the school day Highland students will attend the Career Technical Education/Elective Fair.
  • 2/10/20: 6:30pm-8pm Highland Career Technical Education/Elective Fair open to all students and parents.
  • 2/10-3/16/20: Academic Planning packets will be given to students in TA and they will complete their academic plan for the 2020-21 school year.
  • 3/10-3/13/20: Counselors will visit the middle schools to speak with students about incoming Freshman academic planning/registration.
  • 3/16/20: 3pm-5pm Highland incoming Freshman academic planning nights. 
  • 3/17-3/18/20: 6pm-7:30pm Highland incoming Freshman academic planning nights.

4/7/20: Sophomore's will be taking the English Language Arts ISAT.
4/14/20: Sophomore's will be taking the Math ISAT.
              Junior's will be taking the SAT
4/16/20: Junior's will be taking the Science ISAT.

All of these assessments are required by the State Department of Education for graduation in Idaho. Please make attendance on these days a priority. Please contact your student's counselor with questions or concerns.

Dear Highland Parent, Student, and Ram Supporter,

Reminder the Elective Fair is tonight at 6:30pm-8pm for incoming Freshman and current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders who are interested in attending. This will be an open house format. This is an opportunity before academic planning starts to preview what elective classes will be available next school year to Highland students. Also, extra curricular activities will have information about off-season workouts and taking down student information to keep parents and students in the loop for other information.

We want to encourage all Seniors interested to apply for the opportunity to attend the Idaho State University and Home Depot's Construction Combine. The application deadline is 2/20/20. Students have the opportunity to gain skills in a variety of construction areas and are then possibly recruited by local construction companies for a job. Students interested can apply with the College and Career Advisors or their counselor. See the video and website below for more details. Please check with your child’s doctor or other agencies regarding these required immunizations.  PROOF OF COMPLIANCE MUST BE PROVIDED TO YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR.


In addition, can you also add that counselors are visiting classrooms during the first week of February to review course planning for next year. Academic planning materials will be distributed to students in their homeroom classes on Monday, February 10, 2020. Students should work with their parents in planning for their academic success for the 2020-2021 school year.

On Wednesday 2/5/20 Highland will be holding their winter extracurricular assembly from 11am-11:30am to recognize those students involved in extracurriculars that take place during the winter season and to watch the championship Make-A-Wish Fundraiser Volleyball Game.

Please come and support our District Requiem Concert held at the ISU Performing Arts Center, Jensen Hall at 7pm on Monday 2/10/20. It includes a combined musical performance with the High School Orchestras and Choirs from Highland, Poky, and Century.

The State Department of Education now requires all Juniors to take a science ISAT Test. This is a requirement for graduation. No cut scores are required, but participation is mandatory. We will be administering this exam in April. Please contact the school counselors with any questions or concerns.

Effective February 1 ,2020 There will be no fee for debit card transactions. However, there will be a 3.5% processing fee for ALL credit card transactions. Also, effective immediately, Highland has created a Venmo account to be used for any school fees or payments. When paying through Venmo, you must include your full name and a description of what your paying for, no EMOJI's please. Here is an example= John Smith-Boys Basketball participation fee, spirit pack, and NHS dues. The bursar must be able to identify what the fee is for and who is paying it.

Every year, Highland students sponsor an individual through the Make-A-Wish Foundation and spend time raising money to make this individuals wish come true. Several events are being planned as our Make-A-Wish efforts are coming up. A list of the events will be provided in an upcoming newsletter.
