STEM Diploma Designation:
Students who are interested in applying for the STEM diploma designation can see the Registrar for an application. Applications must be completed and returned to the Registrar prior to May 1, 2023. All students who qualify for the STEM designation will receive a seal on their diploma, notation of designation on their final transcript, cords to wear at graduation and the opportunity to apply for a $3,000 scholarship.

Second FAFSA Night – Mark your calendar:
Thursday, February 2nd -- Library
One FAFSA Night is real good; two FAFSA Nights are even better. Students applying for scholarships, financial aid, and some student loans will need to complete the FAFSA (the Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Our second FAFSA Night at Highland will be Thursday, February 2nd, from 6 to 8 pm, in the Library. Food will be served. There will be school staff and ISU professionals there to help.
Bring:
Ø Yourself and a parent or guardian (if it's possible to bring a parent / guardian).
Ø Your personal email address.
Ø Fully charged phone for you AND your parent
or guardian.
Ø Your personal ChromeBook or personal
laptop, fully charged (there aren’t enough extra computers in the library for
everyone to have one).
Ø Your Social Security number and the S.S. #
of the parent / guardian with you.
Ø Birthdates; dates of marriages / divorces.
Ø Tax information for student and parent /
guardian for 2021, including W-2s.
Ø A list of all the colleges you applied to
(or will apply to) and which you want to receive your financial information.
Ø Records of untaxed income (if that applies to you).
Both student and parent will establish an FSA ID that night (if they haven’t already).

University of Idaho will Visit, February 27
Heads up! Seniors who have applied and been admitted to the University of Idaho will have the opportunity to sit with our admissions rep, Andres, on Monday, February 27th, all morning. This will be the time for students to establish their Vandal account, review their financial aid and scholarship webpages, apply for housing, and look ahead to orientation and academics. Please mark your calendars, and be ready to sit with Andres Zamora and prepare for your next University of Idaho steps.

All students, all families, all grades, all the time. The college career advisors will be at the Electives Night and Activities Fair on Monday, February 6th. We have much to share and look forward to meeting students and families who are looking ahead and connecting again with students we know well.

High School Summer Internships at Idaho National Laboratory
We are fortunate to have a world-class and world-known center for science, stem, energy, and defense in our own backyard: the Idaho National Laboratory. Their summer internships for high school students (which is fabulous, all by itself) will be posted next month. You can go to the URL below to learn more, but note it is dated 2022. Check back to this URL in February and hopefully the summer 2023 link will be active. In the meantime, you can read about the program and what the application process entails.
