Dear Highland Parent, Student, and Ram Supporter,

Junior girls interested in participating in the Distinguished Young Women program are invited to attend a mandatory meeting at the ICCU headquarters on 1/22/20 at 7pm. Parents must attend.

Academic Planning is coming up in February and March. Here are the important dates and events=

  • 2/3-2/7/20: Counselors will visit classes at Highland and speak with students about academic planning.
  • 2/10/20: During the school day Highland students will attend the Career Technical Education/Elective Fair.
  • 2/10/20: 6:30pm-8pm Highland Career Technical Education/Elective Fair open to all students and parents.
  • 2/10-3/16/20: Academic Planning packets will be given to students in TA and they will complete their academic plan for the 2020-21 school year.
  • 3/10-3/13/20: Counselors will visit the middle schools to speak with students about incoming Freshman academic planning/registration.
  • 3/16/20: 3pm-5pm Highland incoming Freshman academic planning nights. 
  • 3/17-3/18/20: 6pm-7:30pm Highland incoming Freshman academic planning nights.

Effective February 1 ,2020 There will be no fee for debit card transactions. However, there will be a 3.5% processing fee for ALL credit card transactions. Also, effective immediately, Highland has created a Venmo account to be used for any school fees or payments. When paying through Venmo, you must include your full name and a description of what your paying for, no EMOJI's please. Here is an example= John Smith-Boys Basketball participation fee, spirit pack, and NHS dues. The bursar must be able to identify what the fee is for and who is paying it.

On Monday, January 27 in TA, the students who took the PSAT in October (Sophomores & Juniors who paid to take the PSAT) will receive their Test Booklets & their Summary Score Reports. They will also watch the two following videos with the first explaining how to read their Summery Score Report and the second showing how to navigate and view more testing information on the CollegeBoard website once the student has created their account.


Junior students-A Boys and Girls State meeting will be held on January 29, during lunchtime in room C-28. Senior students that attended State last year will present information and applications will be handed out at that time

Idaho Congressional Delegations presents Service Academy Days
Listen to Academy Liaisons, Cadets and Midshipmen talk about the US Military Academies. Have your questions answered & learn how to get a congressional nomination from a member of the Idaho delegations to qualify you to apply to an Academy.

Every year, Highland students sponsor an individual through the Make-A-Wish Foundation and spend time raising money to make this individuals wish come true. Several events are being planned as our Make-A-Wish efforts are coming up. A list of the events will be provided in an upcoming newsletter.

Math Tutoring is available on Tuesdays from 7:30-8:30am in room B14 with Mrs. Wilkinson and on Tuesday's from 4pm-5pm in room B72 with Mrs. Davies.

Also, tutoring is now set up and available on Tuesday's and Thursday's starting 9/24/19 from 4-5pm with Mrs. Roberts in  Room E-56 and Mrs. Holston in Room B-19.

Use Venmo to donate to Highland through the Highland Foundation. The account handle name is @HighlandFoundation, you will see Melissa Nielsen's name (the school librarian) as she is the treasurer for the Highland Foundation. You can donate up to $2,999 in one transaction. Please type in where you want this money to be donated (English, Math, Wrestling, Football, Library, Etc). If you do not specify where then it will automatically be assigned to the general account and will not be earmarked for a specific area.
