Dear Parent/Guardian, Student, and Highland Ram Supporter,

If you are among the many that have been involved or have been following the proposal for our school district to move from school of choice to putting in and enforcing school boundaries at the middle school and high schools, there will be a public input meeting on Tuesday 1/23/18 5:30pm at Pocatello High School's Auditorium.

The latest information on the boundaries proposed by the school board can be found here=

The requirements for graduation can be found on pages iii-vii and pages 14-16 of the curriculum handbook along with other helpful information of classes available, dual credit classes, AP classes, etc.

10 Things Every High School Junior Should Do in the Spring to Make the College Search Easier
Sophomore parents/guardians-
Sophomore students were given their PSAT test booklets, score report sheets and watched a RAM TV YouTube video explaining how to interpret their scores. Please take time to help your student(s) create an account through CollegeBoard using their unique access code located on the front of their score report to open up free opportunities including career interest inventories, SAT study planning, etc.
By visiting https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/get-started/for-parents/parent-action-plan-10th-grade you can access “Parent Action Plan: 10th Grade”.
Other career opportunities
In support of our students interested in opportunities that do not involve a four year degree we are happy to offer the following.
If your student is interested in opportunities offered by the military, have him/her speak to Mr. Holyoak who is our military liaison.  Also, in the coming month both Local 732 Iron Workers and Local 449 Electrical Workers will visit Highland to discuss paid apprenticeship opportunities. More information will be released on how students can meet with them as we get closer to the date.
Depression in teens
This year we have noticed an increase of students who need support with depression.  We are not certain if this in an actual increase in depression among our students or if they are feeling more comfortable being vocal and seeking help.  It is not uncommon for us to talk to depressed students who claim their parents/guardians are not aware they have been struggling.  Here are some resources that can be helpful in identifying depression among teens. Please don’t hesitate to contact your student’s counselor for additional support at school for your teen.
