It is Homecoming Week! Below is a calendar of events prepared and provided by our student leadership at Highland. The Homecoming Dance will be held in the Highland commons on Saturday 9/9 from 8pm-11pm and the cost is $18 a person or $25 at the door. Tickets are on sale now at the Bursar's office.
WHERE IS THE HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME BEING PLAYED?
It is still undecided where the game will be held. The turf at Highland is not quite finished due to some delays because of the rain so it will come down to a decision being made on Thursday of where to play. If the game is not at Highland High School Stadium then it will be held at Lookout Stadium by Hawthorne Middle School. The game is this Friday 9/8 at 7pm vs Century High School. A notification will be sent out as soon as a decision is made.
FRIDAY'S BELL SCHEDULE AND TRANSPORTATION PLAN
Friday we have our traditional Homecoming Assembly where we introduce homecoming royalty and get pumped up for the homecoming football game. The assembly will be held in Highland's football stadium. Students who travel to PV-TEC, ISU Welding, or other classes at one of the other high schools will still follow their normal schedule and use the normal mode of transportation they use. Those classes will not adjust to the homecoming assembly schedule. We are looking into transportation to be adjusted for the students who go to Calvary Chapel but this has not been confirmed as of yet. We will send out a notificaiton with what to expect when things get worked out. Below is the bell shedule for Friday 9/8.

GRADUATING CLASS OF 2024
In order to help keep graduates and parents informed of everything going on during a students final year in high school, we will continually update a google doc that has all the latest information. This is a valuable resource for graduates and their parents.

A Class of 2024 group photo will be taken on October 2nd at 10am at Highland High School Stadium.
Senior Photos for the yearbook are due before October 31st.

EXTRACURRICULAR'S
There is a Highland Cheerleading Clinic coming up September 22nd for all grades Pre-6th. Cost is $51 and includes cheer training, a sweatshirt, a headband, dinner, snacks, and fun prizes. They will then perform in Highland High School's Stadium. Go to the link and see the flyer below for more details and to register.

For those interested, there is a family sports pass that includes all home events for the school year, even football games! (Tournaments playoffs, state, and events at the other high schools in the district not included).
Family Passes are $250 for 2 adults and 4 children(14 and under)
$125 for 1 adult and 4 children(14 and under)
Here are the individual costs of tickets for the 2022-23 school year:
Adults-$7.00
Visiting Students and Senior Citizens (60 & Older)-$5.00
Children 12 and under-$5.00
District Middle School Students w/Activity Card-$4.00
Children 5 and Under-Free
Senior Citizen Pass (60 or older)-Free
Student Activity Cards-$50 (good for entrance to all home games at all 3 high schools).

COLLEGE & CAREER ADVISORS
Dear Highland Students & Families,
We are off and running in the college career pod and want to be helpful to all students
and families with questions about high school opportunities and all the many
possibilities that await after high school.
Dual Credit
We have had many student visitors asking for help with registering for dual-credit
classes, getting BengalWeb all fired up, and / or requesting funding.
Couple of things here:
If you are taking dual credit this trimester, be sure you have requested your state
Advanced Opportunities (A.O.) funds. Without that request, you will get a bill –
which would be a drag. If you are not sure whether you have requested funds,
stop by C-36 and ask the college career advisors (CCAs) and we’ll check.
Responsibility for requesting funds lies with the student.
Idaho State University will be visiting classrooms this Thursday, September 7th , to
assist and guide students who are taking ISU dual-credit courses this trimester /
fall.
College Applications (4 years, 2 years, all the years)
The CCAs will go into Government classes next month and help students with Apply
Idaho, which is the free platform from which students can apply to any and all of the
Idaho colleges, universities, and career technical programs (from certificates to
Associates degrees). If you do not have Government this first trimester, don’t worry –
we’ll find you.
Some students have come in with questions because they have already started their
college applications. Good on them. Students who plan to apply to BYU Provo are
advised to start that process now. The application is due November 1 st and it is a
formidable application that will take a fair amount of time and effort.
Our various admissions reps have reached out and we should start having dates for
college visits soon. We already have a couple that are scheduled; read below.
The ACT
The state of Idaho asks junior students to take the College Board’s SAT college
entrance exam in the spring each year. Many colleges are now SAT / test score optional
for admission, but a strong college entrance exam score could mean thousands (and
thousands) of scholarship dollars.
Advanced Opportunities will pay for an ACT test if students want to have an SAT and an
ACT under his or her belt. Just bring to the CCAs your confirmation email with the test
date and the amount you paid, and we will request reimbursement for you. It can take
months to be reimbursed, but money will eventually come your way.
Talk to the CCAs with any questions.
College Visits – Mark Your Calendars
Please note: students who would like to speak to admissions reps during the school
day must ask the permission and blessing of their teachers first, and then will get a note
from the CCAs when they head back to class. We need to be respectful of other
students and teachers and try to minimize classroom disruption. Thanks for being
considerate.
