Dear Highland Students & Families,

Just a few tidbits on a mid-winter afternoon.

So for our seniors graduation, summer, and the start of college may seem very far away. Not so! Let me light a fire under some of you:

Ø Have you applied to college or training? Great! Have you received a congratulatory email or letter? Also great! Follow directions to establish an account at each school or program that admitted you and click around on each website to learn about financial aid and scholarships.

Ø Do. Your. FAFSA. I will repeat: you cannot be considered for financial aid or scholarships without a submitted and processed FAFSA. If you have any questions at all, please reach out to us. Emails addresses are below.

Ø Drop-In Hours. Questions about anything related to career, the future, coursework, colleges, scholarships, the FAFSA, whatever? We will have drop-in hours (first come, first served) for students, families, students and families on:

Monday, February 7, from 2:45 to 4 or 4:30

We will be glad to meet you to answer your questions and offer any assistance.

Ø It is scholarship season. Colleges and training programs are awarding financial aid and scholarships between now and the end of March or early April. Do not delay.

Ø Scholarship binder . . . can be found in the college career area. Stop by periodically to see what we might have added recently. The binder would have competitive national scholarships, local scholarships, scholarships particular to institution / employment / etc. Check it out.

Ø Scholarship awards. We will be asking our seniors to stop by and report to us any and ALL scholarships they have been awarded, so that we can, hopefully, be happy to report a mind-boggling figure. Please keep track – for the benefit of the college career advisors if not yourself
