For Anyone interested in participating in Track & Field this spring:

If student-athletes do not have black shorts from past track seasons or cross country (or you want new ones) you must purchase a pair of shorts from this BSN Store for your uniform. Girls - choice of spandex or split shorts. Boys - choice of split shorts or half tights.
PURCHASE NOW!! Store closes on February 15th.
Shorts will ship to the school and then coaches will distribute them to those that purchased once the season begins.

It’s February, the month of love. I prefer to call it the month of care. Highland’s CCAs,
their school counselors, their teachers, and all staff members care deeply about student
success. Below are some items that will lead to success.
BYU-I at Highland, Wed., Feb. 8 th
Seniors! Our admissions rep from BYU-I, Jarred Brandt, will be here on Wednesday,
Feb. 8 th , to help any and all students with their BYU-I application (finishing it, submitting
it), completing their BYU-I Grant application, and otherwise learn about the enrollment
process. BYU-I will be in the CCA area on Wednesday from 9:45 to 11:30 that morning.
To have our admissions rep visit us in person is a sweet opportunity – don’t miss it.
Electives Fair Tonight
The Electives & Activities Fair is tonight – Monday, February 6 th , from 6 to 7:30 pm –
and will happen throughout the school. The college career advisors (CCAs) will be there
with information about dual credit, Advanced Opportunities, Idaho’s system of higher
education, and other good stuff. We look forward to meeting you there.
University of Idaho at Highland, Monday, February 27 th
Our admissions rep from the University of Idaho, Andres Zamora, will be visiting
Highland the morning of Monday, February 27 th , to work with all senior students who
have applied, who have been admitted, or who are in the process of applying. Andres
will assist students with the enrollment process, showing students how to navigate the U
or I website to see financial aid and scholarship notices, how to apply for housing, when
to plan for new-student orientation. As with BYU-I, we are fortunate to have admissions
reps come to us, so please mark your calendar and make time on the morning of
February 27 th to meet with Andres.
ISU’s College of Tech => What to do Next
Senior students, if you plan to attend any of ISU’s College of Technology 2-year
programs, your acceptance will NOT be complete until you sit with an advisor at the
College of Technology and get from the advisor information about your program. The
College of Technology operates on a cohort system, so student won’t be fully admitted
and have a seat with he or her name on it until the advising appointment happens. Call
the Office of Student Services at the College of Technology (208-282-2622), identify
yourself as a graduating senior, indicate which program you have applied to, and ask to
make an advising appointment. Don’t delay. Some of the College of Technology
programs are very popular and may fill up for Fall 2023 well before Highland graduates.
Scholarship Season, FAFSA
It is scholarship season for seniors. We cannot emphasize it strongly enough – NOW is
the time for seniors to be applying to any and all scholarships that are open. Some will
require transcripts, some will ask for an essay, some will need letters of
recommendation. It breaks my heart when seniors come in in late April and say they’re
ready to apply for scholarships, haven’t done a FAFSA, have not reached out to us all
year. Our scholarship binder is ready for review and reference. Please stop by and go
through it
Higher Ed+ Morning for Juniors, March 7 th
It is tradition in SE Idaho to set aside time in the third trimester for junior students to look
ahead to their senior year and begin the process of considering their post-high school
options. On the morning of Tuesday, March 7 th , a whole bevy of Idaho colleges and
universities will visit Highland, as well as representatives from the military, experts on
financial aid and scholarships, and folks who can talk about apprenticeships. Almost like
a conference, juniors will decided which sessions they want to attend and then pass
between the sessions. Attendance will be taken that morning and juniors are expected
to participate. Another great in-person opportunity for our students to meet people who
will help them navigate their senior year.
