Dear Highland Parent, Student, and Ram Supporter,
Congratulations to our Highland Drama students and Coach Van Noy. A week ago they took 1st at districts and qualified 36 students to go to state. State was held this last weekend in Coeur d'Alene Idaho. Our Highland Rams Drama Team took 1st, coming home as state champs! We are so proud of our Highland State Championship Drama Team! Congratulations and great job to our drama students and Coach Van Noy on this amazing accomplishment. It is great to see your hard work pay off.

We invite all to attend the Highland Band winter concert tonight at 7pm in the Highland Main Gym.
Auditions for the Highland musical, Into the Woods, start this Thursday, after school. See Director Van Noy in Room E52 for questions.

ASVAB EXAM
Reminder for Juniors and Seniors! If you are looking for a little direction, confused about what your future holds, or have absolutely no idea what you want to do with your life after high school, the ASVAB is the test for you! The ASVAB is one of the best career inventories that you can take. It measures your strengths and interests to help you make the best career choices for you. To sign up for the ASVAB, visit the Counseling Center Google Classroom and complete the sign up form. The test will be on December 8th at 9am....donuts will be provided!

YEARBOOK
The last day to pre-order yearbooks at the $65 price will be this Friday, December 9th. After this date, there will be a limited number of yearbooks available for purchase for $70. Ordering before December 9th guarantees your yearbook purchase. Yearbooks purchased after December 9th will be sold on a first come first serve basis.

GRADUATES INFORMATION FOR CLASS OF 2023
The Senior Christmas Party is coming up on December 10th at 8pm at Highland. There will be hot coco, treats, a movie, white elephant gift exchange and more. Class of 2023, plan on coming to join in the fun and make some memories as a Senior class.

COLLEGE & CAREER ADVISORS (CCA'S)
The CCA's from all three of the High School's are hosting an Apprenticeships + Night at Pocatello High School on December 7th, from 6:00-7:30. We are inviting all grades. We would like to make sure all our students get as much information as possible about possible career paths out there.
Dear Highland Students & Families,
We’re coming on to the winter solstice. Rather than binge watch television or series,
look to the future and get stuff done that will pay dividends for years to come.
Apprenticeship + Night
A really terrific Apprenticeship + (Plus) Night will happen at Pocatello High School on
Wednesday night, December 7 th , from 6 to 7:30 pm. There will be more than 30
business and business professionals to talk to, some presentations, and raffles. Such
an opportunity for students and for families does not happen often. Don’t miss it!
Scholarship Season is Approaching
As soon as the calendar turns to 2023, we want our seniors to start the scholarship
process. Some students have already applied to scholarships and some unique or
competitive scholarships have early deadlines (December 15 th , January 15 th , etc.), but
mostly we encourage students to start applying to scholarships between January 1 st and
April 1 st . The Idaho Opportunity Scholarship – which is a fabulous scholarship – has a
deadline of March 1 st . We recommend students have a separate scholarship notebook
to keep track deadlines, requirements, and possible awards. Such record-keeping will
make it easier to compare awards and financial aid packages in the spring.
The Flippin’ FAFSA. Get. It. Done.
If you missed FAFSA Night in November, we want seniors to appreciate that the FAFSA
is often required for students to be eligible for financial aid and scholarships. The CCAs
stand ready to help students get it started, which means they will need their Social
Security number and have knowledge of some dates (month and year of marriages,
divorces). Getting that done the first time will feel epic, and then the process of renewal
in succeeding years should be pretty easy. We stand ready to help.
Dual Credit All Around
A whole new batch of dual-credit courses are beginning for Tri 2. Students, please
please be sure that you are registered for your college class, appear on your teacher’s
college roster, and that you have requested your funding through Advanced
Opportunities. It is important for students to take ownership of this terrific privilege and
be sure that they are getting these administrative things done.
By the Numbers
At Highland High School:
82 completed FAFSAs have been submitted for a 23 % completion rate (we can
do better).
281 unique students have requested transcripts (more than 80 % of the senior
class!)
1028 transcripts have been sent. This is very impressive, indeed.
The days are shorter, darker, and colder, but much good thinking and work gets done
when we hunker down over the winter. The spring is a promise that we will all earn.
Be careful out there.

FAMILY SPORTS PASS
Highland is now selling family passes that include all home events for the school year, even football games! (Tournaments playoffs, state, and events at the other high schools in the district not included).
Family Passes are $250 for 2 adults and 4 children(14 and under)
$125 for 1 adult and 4 children(14 and under)
Here are the individual costs of tickets for the 2022-23 school year:
Adults-$7.00
Visiting Students and Senior Citizens (60 & Older)-$5.00
Children 12 and under-$5.00
District Middle School Students w/Activity Card-$4.00
Children 5 and Under-Free
Senior Citizen Pass (60 or older)-Free
Student Activity Cards-$50 (good for entrance to all home games at all 3 high schools).
