v JUNIORS: the state of Idaho Legislature changed the immunization requirements for all students entering 12th grade to the following:
Please check with your child’s doctor or other agencies regarding these required immunizations. PROOF OF COMPLIANCE MUST BE PROVIDED TO YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR.
v If you have moved and need to update your address in Infinite Campus, please submit 2 current proofs of residency (utility bill, lease agreement, driver's license, etc.) to the registrar’s office,. Highland sends out information on a regular basis to our families and it is important to us that you receive the information regarding your student and their success at Highland High School. v Trimester 2 grades have been posted for all students. Parents can log into their infinite campus accounts to see your Highland High School student's trimester 2 term grades and any outstanding fees. Report cards will not be mailed home however, if you require a hard copy you can print a copy from the documents tab on the home page of your infinite campus parent portal. All fee payments should be made directly to the bursar.
v If you are not familiar with Infinite Campus and the Parent Portal or do not have your own account please contact our registrar, Elaine Whitehead, whitehel@sd25.us to get it set up. The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District is committed to providing parents with the information that they need to help their students be successful. Procedures are in place to give parents access to attendance, grades and assignments, schedules and calendars, and other school and district wide information. The Infinite Campus Student Data System provides a comprehensive Parent Portal. Parents may establish an account in the Parent Portal and will be able to access up-to-date, key information about all the students in their family beginning the first day of the school year. Attendance and grades will be available as soon as possible after the opening of school. Other information will be added to the portal during the school year and there may be some delay in information being posted/updated as it will depend on each individual teacher.

I saw my tulips stating to peep out of the ground this weekend. On one hand, I wanted to tell them to go back, wait a bit, and try again . . . but in another way, I was like, Hell, yeah, let’s welcome spring! And spring means all kinds of good stuff for students now and looking ahead. Here goes.
Advanced Opportunities = $4,125 !
Every Idaho secondary student has $4,125 in funds that can be used to enhance, broaden, and strengthen his or her high school experience. These state monies can be used for trainings, certifications, and dual enrollment classes. A student can access workforce training courses (certified nursing assistant, machining, welding, and more); or gain certifications that will improve employment opportunities and job promotions, such as ServSafe, six different Adobe certifications, Idaho Department of Agriculture exams, floral design certification, seven National Center for Construction Education certification exams, and much much more. And students may earn dual credit in high school, which helps them take college courses that can be used to meet college graduation requirements or direct students toward areas of interest and focus.
All
of which is to say that we hope our Highland students will inquire about the
Advanced Opportunities program and then ask to talk with their guidance
counselor or college career advisor to get questions answered. Advanced
Opportunities offers . . . um, great opportunities for our students and we don’t

ISU College of Tech Virtual Tech Expo, March 18
Idaho
State’s College of Technology is having a Virtual Tech Expo next Thursday,
March 18th, from 9 am to 1 pm and from 3 to 7 pm the same day. The
College of Technology offers more than 30 programs of career technical
education, has a phenomenal hire rate for its graduates, and has designed
curricula so that students can apply their credits toward a bachelor’s degree
at ISU. The tech expo platform is interactive, allowing students to visit industry
booths, talk with program teachers and admissions representatives, and
otherwise get a sense of the College of Tech’s terrific programs. Follow the

College of Tech – Schedule an Advising Appointment to Save Your Seat
If you are a graduating senior, have a plan to attend a career technical program at ISU’s College of Tech, you HAVE to schedule a meeting with an advisor there to secure your place in the program of your choice in the fall. Do not delay in doing this. Please call the College of Tech to schedule an advising appointment for your program: 208-282-2800.
FAFSA – Submitted and Processed?
Graduating
seniors, have you submitted your FAFSA and have you received confirmation that
it has been processed? Highland has a graduating class of 363 and according to
the State Board of Education FAFSA completion tool, only 36 % of our seniors
have submitted and completed their FAFSA. That puts us right in the middle of
three Pocatello high schools and, not to be competitive or anything, but we can
do better. Much better. If you have any questions about your FAFSA, please stop
by the college career advisors. Two important links below. The first to

If you are a graduating senior and have been awarded scholarship monies to any or all of the schools or training programs you have applied to, please stop by the college career advisors to let us know. We are keeping track and want to celebrate the awards won by our students going on to career technical education, two-year colleges, or four-year colleges and universities. Hard work, focus, goals, and ambition deserve kudos.

It. Is. Not. Too. Late.
Now
that there are vaccines, the weather is finally moderating, and there is some
sense that normal (or normal-ish) will return, the students who were reluctant
to apply to college or career technical education may be having second
thoughts. The Apply Idaho platform allows students to apply to ten Idaho
schools / programs: four career technical colleges, four four-year universities,
and two schools that offer both four-year programs and career technical. And it
is FREE. If the last year has taught us anything, it is that those with
trainings, experience, and education, are more likely to weather economic
