 HIGHLAND HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL'S NEWSLETTER

Dear Highland Parent, Student, and Ram Supporter,

On Friday, 9/18/20 our School Board will meet to review the decision of engaging in school through the hybrid model. The results from this review could result in remaining in the hybrid model, bringing all students back to school everyday with masks and grouping guidelines, or keeping all students at home for remote learning. We will be communicating the decision and its impact on current operating procedures moving forward as soon as possible. Please call Highland Administration with questions or concerns.

• Wednesday=Senior Sunrise @ Highland Baseball Diamond
• Dress Theme Thurs & Fri=Freshman-Grey, Sophomores-White, Juniors-Red, Seniors-Black
• Thursday & Friday Homecoming Assembly @ Iron Horse Stadium 
• Friday 7pm Homecoming Football Game: Black & Blue Bowl Sponsored by Connections Credit Union Highland v Poky @ Iron Horse Stadium, Dress Theme-Neon
• Saturday 7pm Juniors v Seniors Powderpuff Football Game @ Iron Horse Stadium

Thank you to our student leadership for working within the guidelines of our current situation to still provide the experience of homecoming week for our students at Highland High School.

Here is our data from last school year. We appreciate the feedback you provided in our surveys sent out to parents/guardians, students, and staff. Your input is greatly appreciated and will be used to guide decisions of improvement here at Highland. Despite the many challenges last school year, our students provided us with a lot to celebrate. Last school year we took first amongst all 5A schools in academic achievement across the state and 86% of our students are involved in an extracurricular activity, not including clubs. We were awarded with 3 academic state championships and 4 district championships and 20 individual district championships. Two teams placed in the top 4 at state competitions. We had 87 students graduate with a STEM designation and we had a 95% graduation rate, the highest it has been in the last 3 years. Sixty-Seven students graduated with either honors, high honors, or highest honors. From the efforts of our Parent Advisory Group we were able to get additional lighting provided in the student parking lot and new, directional painting that provides added safety. We are so proud of our students and we thank our parents and community for your unending support of Highland and our students.
