Dear Highland Parent, Student, and Ram Supporter,

We are preparing for coming back to school. If you missed schedule pickup, please come to the school anytime this week between 8am-4pm to pickup your schedule, pay your fees, get your student activity card, checkout a chromebook, etc. Student Activity Cards are $50 and non-refundable. They will get students into activities, but there is a risk activities could be canceled because of the current pandemic.

Masks are required in the building until further notice for all who enter. Students who refuse to wear a mask or who are inappropriate or disruptive with this request will be sent home and it will be considered a dress code violation. We are working to provide as safe environment for students and school district employees as possible. We are receiving guidance from district administration, Southeast Idaho Public Health, the Center for Disease Control, and the State Department of Education. We are also working with local government officials.

The best sources of information regarding the truth about the Corona Virus we have found are:

Pocatello/Chubbuck School District #25

Southeast Idaho Public Health

Center for Disease Control

Wearing a mask, maintaining physical distance, washing our hands regularly, and disinfecting areas that need it on a regular basis are habits that will move us towards a healthy community.

Masks will be given to students on their first day of school and they will be able to buy additional masks from the bursar at Highland if needed.

In the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District, high schools will be starting the year in a hybrid model. Students with the last name beginning with A-K will attend A-Day (Monday & Thursday). Students with the last name beginning with L-Z will attend B-Day (Tuesday & Friday). On Wednesday's all students will work remotely from home through google classroom. Students will also work remotely through google classroom on the days that they are not in school. Attendance will be taken daily whether at school or through google classroom. Students will have assigned seating in all their classes while in the building except for PE and other such classes. This is so that in the case that a student tests positive for the virus Public Health can trace those who were possibly exposed. Also, students will not be using a locker this year and students will need to plan accordingly.

The School Board of Trustees that govern the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District #25 will meet again on 9/4/20 to reassess if we remain in a hybrid schedule or move to a modified traditional schedule with all students at school everyday with some modifications or we move to all students stay at home-remote learning through google classroom. As for now we are moving forward with the hybrid schedule.

For A-Day students school will begin on Monday 8/24/20. For B-Day students school will begin on Tuesday 8/25/20. In the hybrid schedule we will no longer have early release on Monday's.

Here is the bell schedule for the first day of school on both Monday 8/24-A Day Students and Tuesday 8/25-B Day Students=

Preferential schedule changes have finished and the only schedule changes taking place are "See Counselor" or mistakes in a students schedule.

If you have applied for online school and have not heard anything, you will be contacted this week to verify your request.

Despite the current circumstances we are excited to get back to school and to work with students. We have missed them.

Please reach out and  contact school administration with any questions or concerns. We are here to help you and support you in any way we can. We recognize the stress the current situation is placing on families and we want to help anyway we can.

We can think, be, and learn more as we work together to continually improve.
