IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Dear Parent/Guardian, Student, and Highland Ram Supporter, 

Thanks to Portneuf Medical Center who not only donates money to all our schools in Pocatello/Chubbuck School District #25, but also provides athletic trainers and their equipment to keep our student-athletes safe and in tip top condition for performance. Thank you so much Portneuf Medical Center!

Tuesday 9/10 Seniors will be having picture day and Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors will be having picture day on Wednesday 9/11 and Thursday 9/12.

Wednesday 9/18 will be Highland Back to School with dinner at 6pm by Connections Credit Union will be provided. Thank You Connections Credit Union! The evening will be from 6pm to 8pm. A full itinerary for the evening is being developed and will be available next Monday.  

We had our first Parent Advisory Group meeting and we have doubled in size from last school year. We appreciate Pizza Pie Cafe for helping us with food for these meetings and all our meetings for this school year will be held at Pizza Pie Cafe. Thanks Pizza Pie Cafe! Below is the agenda and the minutes from the meeting. The next meeting will be on Tuesday 11/5/19 from 12pm-1:30pm.

Mr. Wallace will be reviewing attendance reports starting this week and sending out notifications of students who have excessive absences. Please contact Mr. Wallace with any questions or concerns.

NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER REQUIREMENTS

Parents and students, the NCAA Eligibility Center has specific guidelines for awarding academic credit. It is highly recommended students apply to the NCAA Eligibility Center at the end of their junior year. However, applying earlier is highly encouraged. Parents of students and/or students planning to attend a post-secondary institution under the conditions of NCAA should seek required credit information from their high school counselor and the college/university of interest. Student athletes who plan to compete beyond high school are encouraged to review the section entitled College Bound Student Athletes that can be found at: www.eligibilitycenter.org.

CAUTION: The NCAA may not accept some online credit recovery or correspondence courses.

The Highland Foundation is dedicated to raising money to benefit Highland High School. For example, two years ago the Highland Foundation was able to refurnish the school library from funds that were donated through the foundation, bringing it up to date and making it a powerful resource for the school. There are some benefits you can recieve from donating money to the Highland Foundation. One benefit is that you are helping improve Highland High school. Also, there are a couple of tax benefits. Your donation(s) can be written off as an itemized deduction on your Federal Taxes. In addition, there is a specialized tax rebate that can be applied to State Taxes for donations to a non-profit/public school entity allowing for up to 1/2 back.

The foundation has been working to find ways that make it easier for you to give to Highland High School. The first step in this process is establishing a Venmo account. Venmo is an app that can be downloaded to your phone and facilitates the transfer of money from one to another. Once set up, it literally takes just seconds. The Highland Foundation bank account is attached to its newly established Venmo account allowing for donations to go directly to the account. The account handle name is @HighlandFoundation, you will see Melissa Nielsen's name (the school librarian) as she is the treasurer for the Highland Foundation. You can donate up to $2,999 in one transaction. Please type in where you want this money to be donated (English, Math, Wrestling, Football, Library, Etc). If you do not specify where then it will automatically be assigned to the general account and will not be earmarked for a specific area.
