Dear Highland Parent, Student, and Ram Supporter,

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Tis the Season. Please attend and support the annual Festival of Trees held at the Stephan's Performing Arts Center. For detailed information of events please visit the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District #25 facebook page at=
https://www.facebook.com/FOTPocatello/

Most of our English Department recently attended professional development at a National Conference for English Teachers. Mrs. Glenda Funk was the key organizer of providing this opportunity to our English Teachers. We appreciate Mrs. Funk and her leadership and continued desire to improve along with those she took with her to the conference. We are excited to see the ideas and enhanced learning opportunities.

We are excited for trimester 2! Thank you to all those who participated in the survey. We collect feedback from students, staff, and parents/guardians. Our leadership team reviews each of these survey's and uses them to identify areas for focused improvement. Again, thank you for your feedback. In the next newsletter we will share that analysis of the results.

Please be aware that the time slotted for preference changes to schedules has now passed and only students who may have mistakes in their schedule will recieve attention. Thursday is the deadline for any schedule changes to occur and Friday if a student changes a schedule it will result in a withdraw/fail from the class changed.

ð  A group of 37 Highland seniors and six chaperones visited the College of Southern Idaho and Boise State on Friday, November 9, which included a Boise State football game that night. It was a long day but a smashing success and our students favorably impressed representatives they met from both institutions.

ð  Hundreds of Highland students have taken the Workforce Readiness test aligned with their coursework this year. It is a common-sense assessment of problem-solving, customer service, and introductory management skills.

ð  Senior students have been using the Apply Idaho portal in the hundreds. Our goal is to ask every senior student – no matter his or her interests or plans – to apply to at least one Idaho college or university. Idaho is fortunate indeed to have the full array of post-secondary choices: institutions that offer certificate programs, technical training, associate’s and bachelor’s degrees, graduate programs, and – now – its own medical school. Every Idaho high school graduate has the opportunity to get high-quality, moderately priced training and education, which will serve both the student and the state well.

As we move on to second trimester, we wanted you to know that it has been a wonderful experience meeting, getting reacquainted and working with your student(s). The Counseling and Career Center would like to share our thanks for not only our students, but you as guardians as well. We are privileged to work with all of you.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

We are so proud of our fall activities and athletics and their accomplishments. Without hesitation we move into winter activities and athletics. Please check our activities and athletics calendar for the most update events, times, and locations. A calendar of the next 2 weeks is also provided at the bottom of this newsletter.
