News and information from the Counselors and College and Career Advisors

As part of Suicide Prevention Month counselors have been going into Health classes and discussing this topic with students.  If you have a student in Health this trimester, please talk to them about the “ACE Card” they have been given.  This is a tool they can use to talk to their friends or others they care about whom they think are depressed or may be having suicidal thoughts.  If you are interested in obtaining one for yourself, your student’s counselor would be happy to provide you one.  Below are a few statistics few parents are aware of.
·         Each day in our nation, there is an average of over 3,000 suicide attempts by young people (grades 9–12)
·         1 out of 6 students nationwide (grades 9–12) have seriously considered suicide in the past year.

Suicide Prevention Lifeline has created a 4 minute video for parents of teens.  Please take time view it.
If you have questions or feel your student need support, please feel free to reach out to their counselor.
