Highland held its first track & field event this past Saturday at Iron Horse Stadium. We are so grateful for this great facility that will be a great place for athletes from around the city and state in the future to compete.
Reminder to incoming Highland Freshman and to new students who will be attending Highland for the first time, we invite you Tuesday 4/3/18 to Highland High School for Academic Planning Event at two different times. You may attend at 4:00 to 5:30 pm or 6:00 to 7:30 pm. At this time, schedules will be planned for the coming year with your students’ Teacher Advisor. Refer to the handout provided to your student at school for a QR code. You can also access these documents at HHSRams.com under "Counseling Center". Please be on time to ensure you receive all needed information. Students who do not attend will have classes chosen for them and may not have the opportunity to make schedule changes in the fall. We look forward to seeing you!

We have a number of events and T-shirt sales, with the sole purpose of raising money to grant someone their wish through the Make-A-Wish foundation. The week was kicked off today by students competing for Highland Idol during lunch and then tonight we will hold our 2nd annual teacher talent show in the Auditorium at 7:30pm entry $5. The week will end at an assembly on Monday 4/9/18 where we hold the finals of the Highland Idol competition and grant a check to the child we are sponsoring, Izy, through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Izy has a rare genetic disease with only approximately 100 similar cases existing in the whole world. We are blessed to be able to participate with the Make-A-Wish foundation. We look forward to an awesome week!

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is headed to state at the Riverside Hotel in Boise, ID on April 4th-6th. Highland Speech will also be headed to compete at state on April 13th-14th at Madison High School (http://www.idhsaa.org/activities/speech.aspx). We are so excited for these students and their coaches/advisors and we know they will work hard and represent Highland well!
We appreciate and love our students at Highland. Thank you parents for all you do to support them and Highland High School.

ISU’s Bengal Visit Day April 28

This is a preview day event designed for juniors, where they are able to start learning a little more about ISU, as well as things like scholarships and financial aid. Students are able to explore programs they are interested in, attend an organization fair, and take campus and housing tours.
We will also be having an essay contest, where the top three submissions can win some pretty great educational awards! First place is $1,500, second place is $1,200, and third place is $800. I have attached the formal Bengal Visit Day Essay Contest instructions to this email, so that if any students are interested you can give them a copy. They can also download it on our website at isu.edu/visit under the Bengal Visit Day description.
Weber State visit is March 27th first hour, open for Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors. Sign up in the CCA office if you wish to attend.
ISU’s Bengal Registration for current seniors
All students planning on attending ISU in fall 2018 need to sign up for Early Registration at isu.edu/earlyregistration and can choose the date that works best to attend.
The CCA office is planning on taking students who would like to go as a group or are in need of transportation, to the event Thursday, April 5th. If your student would like to join this trip please fill out the registration form at: isu.edu/earlyregistration and be sure to RSVP to the Thursday April 5th date. After those steps are completed, please inform your student to stop into the CCA office to sign up for the field trip.

Final Amateurism Certification Reminder for Senior Students
Students enrolling full time at an NCAA Division I or II college or university in fall 2018 may request their final amateurism certification starting April 1. This is a requirement to compete their freshman year.

Testing reminder-- ISAT testing is April 2nd for all 10th graders. Please plan on your student eating lunch in the school cafeteria or bringing a packed lunch. Also, please bring ear buds/headphones if you have some available to use that day.

Be sure and purchase your $2 Ticket or Tickets for the Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Pocatello Raffle benefiting Athletics and Activities. Last year a Pocatello High School parent won a brand new Dodge Dart all expenses paid including taxes. Over $56,000 was raised for school activities in the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District in last years raffle. Support athletics and activities again this year and buy raffle tickets for $2 for the chance to win a new Jeep Renegade worth $25,000 donated by Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Pocatello. There is no limit on the number of tickets you can buy. All expenses for the car are covered, including taxes. All proceeds go to school athletics and activities. Tickets are on sale until May 21, 2018 and the drawing will take place at the new Lithia Dealership in Pocatello on May 31, 2018. Contact the school bursar to buy tickets (208)237-1300 and/or look to buy tickets and see the car on display at home events throughout the school year.
