Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Pocatello Raffle for Athletics and Activities is beginning again this year.  Last year a Pocatello High School parent won a brand new Dodge Dart all expenses paid including taxes.  Over $56,000 was raised for school activities in the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District in last years raffle.  Support athletics and activities again this year and buy raffle tickets for $2 for the chance to win a new Jeep Renegade worth $25,000 donated by Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Pocatello. There is no limit on the number of tickets you can buy.  All expenses for the car are covered, including taxes.  All proceeds go to school athletics and activities.  Tickets are on sale until May 21, 2018 and the drawing will take place at the new Lithia Dealership in Pocatello on May 31, 2018.  Contact the school bursar to buy tickets (208)237-1300 and/or look to buy tickets and see the car on display at home events throughout the school year.

In Idaho our students have the amazing opportunity to gain credits for college or take career certification/licensing tests while in high school through what the state calls the Advanced Opportunities program.  We have a student right now at Highland that is on track to receive her Associates Degree when she graduates this school year.

Advanced Opportunities is an effort put forth by the state of Idaho to encourage and support students in making the transition from high school to post-secondary college or career opportunities.  To accomplish this, the State of Idaho has potentially given every student $4,125 to be spent for dual credit classes (up to $75 per credit), advanced placement tests, professional certification tests, or challenge tests (full cost), and overload courses (courses that may cost money that exceed the amount of classes, 5, a student takes in the trimester...in other words correspondence or online classes).  Highland High School, and the other high schools in the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District #25, are offering several opportunities for students to get college credits and career technical certifications while in high school in order to maximize a student’s opportunity to both use Advanced Opportunities money and to be college and career ready upon graduation.

In order to access these opportunities please contact the school and speak with the College and Career Advisors or the School Counselors at (208)237-1300.

Dual Enrollment Classes have a strictly enforced registration deadline of September 29.  This means students must register for the classes AND request funding by that date. If any students are having difficulties requesting funding on their Advanced Opportunities portal please send them Mrs. Smith, College and Career Advisor ASAP. Please  remind students that these are two separate processes and both must be completed.
