Welcome Back! We are so excited to begin our school year! This is a newsletter you will be receiving each week from Highland's administration. We have a goal to increase our communication with parents and other stakeholders as well as to receive feedback from you for improvement. This newsletter is one tool we are using for meeting this goal. This year, as part of this goal, we will also be working on developing a new website.
Beyond the website, this summer the breeze way between the C building and E building was enclosed, the District 25 track and football field has made great progress and should be completed in October, the main gym floor was refinished and new bleachers were installed, and we also have been working on making some changes focused on updating our library here at HHS. We are grateful for the support of our school district and for all those who have been working so hard on these projects. We are excited for the progress and we look forward to continue to improve.
Reminder of Freshman Orientation tonight 8/22/17 at 7pm-8:30pm in Highland's Main Gym. Shirts will be for sale for $5 for Freshman and their families. Hope to see our Freshman and their families tonight.

HHS Activities Calendar
We have over 1600 students that have enrolled at Highland High School this school year. As a result, scheduling is difficult and class sizes have increased. Please be patient with us as we work through some of our growing pains.
It is important to review the school interventions for Academics, Attendance and Behavior at Highland High School. Please contact the school with any questions or concerns.
HHS Interventions for Academics/Attendance/Behavior
At Highland High School we deeply believe that Right Attitude Means Success. We define a "Right Attitude" as...
Respectful and caring toward ourselves, our families and our community;
- Building healthy relationships through practicing kindness, selflessness, and using uplifting communication.
Accountable and prepared for each class and event;
- Being responsible in honoring school policies and procedures, taking ownership for actions and decisions.
Motivated and focused in academics, activities and athletics;
- Building efficacy by developing confidence and a growth mindset through setting and pursuing goals, taking an optimistic stance, and applying the principles of grit to overcome challenges.
Scholarly and spirited in school and in life.
- Pursuing excellence through continual improvement in learning and in life.
Again, we are excited for what will be a wonderful year at Highland High School. Please do not hesitate to contact school administration for questions, concerns, or frustrations. Working together we will continue our tradition of excellence through continual improvement.
