HHS January 17-23, 2017 Letter from Administration
Dear Parent/Guardian, Student, and Highland Ram Supporter,
Last week we briefly introduced the difference between growth and fixed mindsets. This year we have also been spending time in advisory teaching students about the importance of GRIT. Grit is the combination of resiliency, passion, and perseverance. It is putting in the diligent work and focus to get results and remaining resilient in this effort when faced with challenges. As part of advisory we have spent time giving our students a grit test to see how gritty they are. Feel free to take the same test through the following link-

After taking the test we discussed the results with them. The research of Christian Moore, Angela Duckworth, and others, shows again and again that grit in the face of challenges produces results more than talent or IQ. The growth mindset plays an important part of being gritty. Without a growth mindset it is impossible to develop grit. Without grit it is impossible to develop a growth mindset. They are linked. Grit is another piece of the foundation of what we are trying to instill in our students at Highland High School. Like the growth mindset, this propels learning forward and lays a foundation for a successful life.

Family Events/Activities Passes available for $130. This gets you and your entire immediate family (except high school students-they must buy their own activity card) into any home event for the entire school year. This does NOT include Holt Arena.
Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Pocatello Raffle for Athletics and Activities: Support athletics and activities and buy raffle tickets for $2 for the chance to win a new Dodge Dart worth $25,000 donated by Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Pocatello. There is no limit on the number of tickets you can buy. All expenses for the car are covered, including taxes. All proceeds go to school athletics and activities. Tickets are on sale until March 24, 2017 and the drawing will take place at the new Lithia Dealership in Pocatello on March 31, 2017.
